I was in West Bend, WI on business and wanted to check out a local breakfast place in the area; I came across this gem. I was in around 10:30am for breakfast and the waitress was kind enough to let me choose between their breakfast or lunch menu. I chose not to go with either menu and went with their St. Patricks's Day special, being a special occasion and all. I will say there were quite a few people their celebrating the holiday I suppose, the patrons I saw at the bar were ordering some heavy drinks. Any who, I digress, the special was a corned beef hash and sauerkraut eggs Benedict with breakfast potatoes. It twas amazing. It twas so amazing that I turned old English there for a second. Well done on the perfect hollandaise and egg bene with a special St. Patty's Hollandaise spin!!! See what I did there? I just had water so I couldn't review any of the bar service.

This used to be my favorite breakfast place. I'd go there weekly. And it was great, a bit pricey, but totally worth it. Things started to slowly change. First they switched their usually delicious coffee to a weak blend. Not worth $3 a cup. OK, so I just drank water. Then what seemed to be an entirely new serving staff. One in particular would shut half the tables down with reserved signs because she was the only one there. Funny thing was, there were no customers in the place! But she is prohibiting seating at the best tables in the place. And never refills water. Unfortunately I will take my business elsewhere.

I adored my visit here yesterday. Around 1 pm on a Saturday and I found parking immediately outside on the street. This place is rather unique: a bar, restaurant and coffee shop all under one roof. That and the cozy decor makes it feel like you can go and relax here any way you need to. I was a wifi nerd and took my laptop to a counter by the window. But I was treated like royalty by the waitstaff. I was met right away and accommodated with tasty coffee. And I was offered refills throughout my visit so I didn't have to get up from my work. I was also brought my own little silver container of half and half. I was impressed by the many choices on the menu. I had the classic sandwich and potato salad. The sandwich was great, but it was served on regular toasted and buttered bread, which was no match for the generous amount of dressing. After two messy bites that almost wound up with dressing on my computer, I gave up and ate it with a knife and fork. I'd swap the bread for a hearty bun. It was delicious though with the right amount of toppings. The chicken was cooked just right. I also loved the music. I'm really looking forward to my next visit.

First to review huh? crazy. Farmers breakfast was quite great. the eggs and bacon were standard and flavorful. The standout on the plate were the hash-browns. I loved their lightness, their crispiness, and overall delicate appeal. their homemade jam was delightful. Also on a good note, the chai had a surprising quality to it, the whip on top was thick and really added a nice texture to the drink. This place deserves 5 stars for West Bend, as this place is probably as good as it gets in the WB, I can't understand how in West Bend, Mcdonald's has 10 reviews and this place had none. Come on out yelpers, stop in this joint, you will not be disappointed at all. This place also houses pastries, gelato, ice cream, darn good coffee and very friendly and helpful staff.

Cool little place. Had a great eggplant sandwich. Worth searching out. Wait staff was very friendly. Crowded feeling for my tastes even at a slower time.

I have only eaten at the Grasshopper on Fridays for lunch. I absolutely love the Fish Sandwich. The fish is lightly battered and extremely flakey! The place is very cozy with a very nice and helpful waitstaff. The food is a little expensive but the fish is worth it. They also have coffee/scones/ice cream.

I was there for a wine tasting 2 weeks ago. We got to see the menu and taste some of the pastry and bread. Sometimes people get to experience a restaurant before the general public has a chance. They are open Mon the 22 to everybody.

We stopped in for breakfast as we were passing through town, not expecting much, we just wanted food. What a surprise! Cute decor, charming enviornment, friendly staff. Oh and food...incredibly delicious! I had the New Bene, eggs Benedict with bacon and avocado and the best hollandaise I've ever had. The pancakes were huge and fluffy, and with the syrup, tasted like donut like, so yummy! Great coffee, the mocha was not too sweet with real whipped cream, just perfect. I wish I could sample their lunch and dinner menu!!

I had never been here before but yet they still sponsored our softball team. They had outdoor seating which was convenient for sitting outside with our puppy. There were so many items on the menu I wanted to try which is a huge positive when going to a new restaurant. I ended up getting the salmon burger. It was huge, delicious, and tasted amazingly fresh. We will definitely be returning many more times in the future....I need to try all those other amazing sounding dishes I wanted to order!

Like others have said, this is a very cozy place for breakfast lunch or dinner. Terrific staff and excellent quality food. Very nice selection of wine and liquor. Great place for a meal or just to hang out at the bar and watch the fireplace. They do occasional I have entertainment on weekends.

Went Saturday morning for breakfast, it was crowded but cleared out quick. Food was good. Service was slow. I probably won't be visiting again.

So, while we are still on a quest for a great brunch, Grasshopper gave us a good breakfast. Going back downtown West Bend was something we were cringing at doing, but this place was on our list for a while. Upon entering, we were happily and quickly greeted and seated. We decided on the bar area because it was quaint and had a nice two seater table by a fireplace (it was not operating, but looked nice). Our server was overseeing the entire bar, but never seemed too busy and quickly greeted us and returned with our water and orange juice. Our server was Hollin and she was excellent and quite attentive and quick in her actions - This alone puts them ahead of other downtown West Bend restaurants! We both ordered steak and eggs (mine scrambled with an extra egg and no potatoes and hers over easy with a side of hollandaise). The food took a bit longer then we thought, but it looked good and was hot and fresh on arrival. During our wait, my water glass never hit much below half-full as there was a pleasant girl filling them continually. The steak was cooked as desired and the eggs perfectly prepared. The best part of the first few bites - IT WAS SEASONED! We were sure that seasoning was something unheard of downtown. The hollandaise was perfect, but tasted like it was not homemade. The potatoes were excellent and while they definitely were a frozen pre-made product, they were seasoned and cooked to perfection. It was overall delicious and we ate it like it was our last meal because we were so pleasantly surprised at the great flavor! It sounds like I am being harsh, but these are minor things - the meal was quite good, especially at only $9.99 for the steak and eggs. I would have preferred a thicker cut instead of the thin and long cut, but that is also minor. What was not minor and the reason for a 4 instead of 5 is that some pricing was a bit odd. The orange juice was $4.00 (a bit outrageous considering the food pricing) and while the bar was quaint, the continual opening and closing of the front door left a cold chill throughout the area. We definitely will go back for lunch or dinner in the future! Thank you Grasshopper!

Went there for breakfast a while back mostly based on the reviews and a prior lunch visit by my wife and daughter. I was not as impressed as everyone else seems to be by the Grasshopper. I ordered the breakfast burrito. Downsides Appearance - I personally would not use a green spinach tortilla covered with a bright orange cheese sauce. It was not visually appealing. Filling - Mostly potatoes. There was chorizo sausage in there, but it was overcooked and crunchy (not much of it either). Eggs were good, real eggs instead of the stuff in a carton. Upside - Regardless of the filling, it had decent flavor. Wife ordered that pancakes that the menu said came with "Pure Maple Syrup". I almost ordered them based on the "Pure Maple Syrup". Umm.. no.. it was not *real* maple syrup. Note.. if you are going to put "Pure Maple Syrup" in the menu, please serve that. Pancakes were huge and were actually very good if not for the misleading menu. Coffee was great. If I go there again it would not be for breakfast. My daughter and wife had lunch there a few months ago and said the lunch was excellent.

Great little place on downtown West Bend. We stop in for breakfast during the Farmer's Market and enjoy their fantastic breakfast selections and coffee. Dinner is casual and sandwiches are awesome. The Cali Burger, Veggie Burgers are favorites. Excellent wine and beer selections. Service is excellent and the chef went out of the way to make a grilled cheese sandwich for my 6 year old grandson.
